UFL Sponsors Seattle Summit on Industrial Jobs

June 17, 2018 — The Urban Freight Lab is a cosponsor of the Port of Seattle’s summit on industrial jobs in the greater Seattle, in partnership with Manufacturing Industries Council, Core Plus, MLK Labor, Machinists District 751, BNSF Railway, and NUCOR Steel. The summit will be held on June 27 and 28.
Events include:
- Industry tours to the Boeing 737 plant, Nucor Steel, Vigor Shipyard and the “Industry Space” incubator facility that supports 10 new manufacturing firms.
- A lunch program highlighting “Georgetown Crossroads,” a state-of-the art warehouse and maker space, celebrated by the Wall Street Journal.
- A program on why Crossroads developer, Prologis, is investing in the Seattle industrial base.
- Workshops:
- Transportation – Trucks, Goods & People Matter (hosted by the Urban Freight Lab)
- Education – Core Plus, Seattle Promise, Apprenticeships
- A tour of Fishermen’s Terminal
- A leadership lunch with guest speaker Chris Reykdal, the Superintendent of Public Education for the State of Washington.
