March 20, 2018 — Professor Anne Goodchild was named the 2017 Person of the Year by The Transportation Club of Seattle. The annual award recognizes “an individual who has made extraordinary efforts, impact and contributions to the local transportation field and community.”
A CEE faculty member since 2005, Goodchild is the founding director of the Supply Chain Transportation and Logistics (SCTL) Center and serves as academic director for the associated master’s degree program. The first center of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, SCTL is a leader in supply chain transportation and logistics research and education, serving industry, infrastructure agencies and policymakers. Under Goodchild’s leadership, SCTL launched the Urban Freight Lab, an innovative partnership between private companies and public agencies working to design and test new solutions in urban goods delivery in Seattle and beyond.
Leading transportation research for nearly two decades, Goodchild focuses on the intersection between supply chain management and freight transportation to better manage the delivery of goods and services. Recent research includes evaluating the changing nature of ecommerce, particularly how increased goods delivery may impact CO2 emissions, local pollutants and vehicle miles traveled.
